Welcome to Heidi's Doggie Treasures. Heidi was my miniature dachshund that influenced me opening my business. I rescued Heidi in 1992. She was a black/tan mini, in need of a loving home. When I got her, her back was broken and I adopted her and she had surgery. Within a month, she was walking (running) again. Heidi was 5 years old at the time. She had a cute personality. She was a tough one- like most dachshunds she had a Napoleon complex and wasn't afraid to make her presence known to bigger dogs or people for that matter, as she was very protective of me. She was very playful and loyal. Over the years, we became inseparable . I must admit I spoiled her!!

She came everywhere with me. Heidi was so full of energy and was always doing something mischievous!! Heidi won a bikini contest in 1995 and was on the news. Heidi and I went to the dachshund festivalsin NYC for years and she became known for her homemade outfits and nailpolish. December 2002, right before she would have been 15, Heidi got very sick and weak. She died 3 days before Christmas. I still miss her so much; as she is MY Precious Gift. |

Soon after she passed away, I received a phone call from Adrian Milton, founder of the Dachshund Friendship Club here in NYC. He called to offer his condolences, and asked me a big question. There was a little dachshund that was abandoned by his owners. He was only 2 years old. I wasn't ready to get another dachshund, but something Adrian said touched my heart. He said the dog was timid and passive and needed a special home where he would be loved and Adrian thought of me right away. How could I say no. A few days later when he arrived, I saw the saddest eyes ever. At that moment, I knew somehow Heidi sent this little guy into my life. I renamed him Puck. He is a mini black and tan dapple. Puck has the sweetest personality.
